I began fly fishing around the age of 10 and I was taught to tie flies from 13 years old. I am a qualified casting instructor with APAGI, and a full-time fly dresser. I specialize in Competition nymph’s, Competition fly fishing and Irish Lough Style fly fishing. I have competed for Ireland many times in World and European Fly-Fishing Championships over the last 20 years and captained the
team in 2006 and 2018 for the Europeans in Scotland and the World finals in Italy 2018. I have National and provincial river and lake titles, two Hanak European Grayling Team Gold and a Silver
Medals and a top individual finish at the same competitions among many other top finishes at open European and National competitions. While I grew up on mountain streams in County Wicklow, I am currently based on the River Nore in Co Kilkenny in the mid lands of Ireland. I have fished the Blackwater for many years regularly and I have always found that having a good understanding of modern fishing methods you are able to have great fishing on this water through the season. It is a river that with the right approach can produce some amazing fishing. The stretches of water that the Blackwater Trout and Salmon Fishery has are among the best beats on the river and there is some cracking wild brown trout fishing to be had here. I travel regularly across Europe throughout the year fly fishing for education and competitions to gain more knowledge in this ever-changing sport. I have a real passion in passing on and sharing this information through my fly tying and coaching. While modern nymphing techniques are my go-to method for catching fish, I also spend a lot of time working on all approaches in fly fishing so I have a complete set of skills for any type of river or place. Throughout this master class I will be sharing with you all the information I have gathered over the years. We will work together to implement the techniques and approaches into your skill base and work closely with you on the areas in which you wish to improve on. Our Master classes will include a Modern Euro Nymphing programme, a dry fly and dry dropper programme and wet fly and streamer programme, all will be individual workshops on different days.
